What is banaba?

Banaba (Lagerstroemia speciosa) is a botanical frequently marketed in metabolic-health formulas. Corosolic acid is one of its best-known constituents.

Evidence questions to ask

When reading studies, check the extract, standardization, dose, participant population and outcome. A mechanistic claim about glucose uptake does not establish that every banaba-containing product produces a clinically meaningful effect.

Combination formulas

In a multi-ingredient supplement, both efficacy and safety depend on the complete formulation—not the reputation of one ingredient.
